Drone Above headed north for two busy days of drone surveys in the North East areas of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.
Between 21st and 22nd July, we completed six roof inspection jobs covering both rural cottages and urban homes. This trip perfectly showcased the flexibility and reach of our certified drone surveying services.
Leaving home at 04:20 we were on site at our first survey at 11:30, not bad for a Monday morning drive.
We kicked things off in Alnwick, Northumberland, with a secluded cottage surrounded by woodland. With no easy access for ladders or scaffolding, this was an ideal candidate for a drone-based survey. Within minutes, we were able to capture sharp, high-resolution stills of the full roof area, including ridge tiles, gutters, and a chimney stack that had seen better days.
From there, we made our way through Morpeth and Wylam — two classic Northumberland towns. These properties varied in style but all had one thing in common: they needed safe, fast, visual inspections without the disruption of access towers or waiting on scaffold quotes. With drones, we provided clients with clear stills, taken from multiple angles, and all delivered the same day.
The next morning, we headed into Tyne and Wear, starting with a property in Washington that had a complex multi-level roof. Our pre-flight checks confirmed we had a safe, open airspace and good conditions. The job was completed quickly, with close-ups of previously hard-to-reach flashing and tiling.
We ended the trip with two inspections in Newcastle upon Tyne, both residential but entirely different in layout. One had flat roof sections with visible pooling; the other had traditional pitched roofing and raised parapets. Each client received a detailed set of images taken from multiple perspectives — ideal for builders, insurers, or repair teams to assess remotely.
