Step One: Consultation

Every Drone Above project starts with a proper chat. We take time to understand exactly what you’re after whether it’s a roof overview for a Checkatrade job, aerial photos for a property listing, or marketing footage for a venue. We’ll ask about:

• What you want to capture
• Why you need it (for inspection, promotion, documentation, etc.)
• Your location, access arrangements, and any time constraints

Once we’ve got a handle on what’s needed, we assess the site using:

• Flight planning software to map out safe and legal flight paths
• Weather and wind forecasts to ensure the timing is right
• Airspace maps to check for no-fly zones or restrictions

We’ll also confirm any risks or limitations upfront — like trees, overhead cables, or proximity to buildings and explain clearly what we can and can’t do before we get airborne.

This stage ensures the whole job runs smoothly and safely from the start. If permission or access arrangements are needed (e.g. for construction sites, residential gardens, or commercial properties), we’ll help you sort those out too.

Step Two: Deployment

Once we arrive on location, we don’t just launch the drone and hope for the best. We take the time to make sure everything lines up exactly as planned.

We begin by visually checking that the site matches our pre-flight plan — comparing the real-world layout with satellite images and any data gathered from Google Street View. It’s not uncommon for buildings, trees, or scaffolding to have changed since the last update, so we adapt on the spot if needed.

Then we carry out a full, thorough risk assessment. This isn’t just ticking boxes, it’s a comprehensive review of the environment, including:

• Checking for unexpected hazards like overhead cables, moving vehicles, or nearby footpaths
• Noting nearby people, pets, or obstacles that could interfere with the flight
• Assessing lighting, weather conditions, and wind speeds on the day

We confirm safe take-off and landing zones, and if needed, we communicate with site staff, homeowners, or neighbours to make sure everyone is aware of the flight.

Only when everything checks out legally, visually, and practically, do we move on to the flight.

Step Three: Flight

With all planning and safety checks complete, we move on to the flight itself, where we capture the aerial visuals you need with precision and care.

Every flight is carried out using the latest DJI drone, capable of capturing sharp 4K video and high-resolution stills. Depending on how complex or technical the job is, we may have a second drone operator on site to provide backup, act as a spotter, or assist with more advanced manoeuvres.

We stay fully alert throughout the flight, carefully monitoring:

• Wind and lighting conditions
• Battery levels, drone positioning, and height
• Any changes on the ground that might affect safety

Our process is calm, controlled, and fully compliant with UK flight regulations. Whether it’s a simple inspection or a more creative shoot, we aim to get exactly what you need and usually a few extra angles for good measure.

Step Four: Review and Edit

Before we pack up and leave site, we double-check — then check again that we’ve got everything we came for. We carefully review the stills and video footage on location to make sure the framing, focus, and lighting are spot on. If anything’s off, we’ll reshoot it there and then.

Once we’re confident everything’s captured, it’s back to the office where the real magic happens.

We process and edit the footage using professional grade software to enhance clarity, colour, and composition. Whether you need unedited files for documentation or fully polished visuals for marketing, we tailor the final output to suit your needs.
